Description
Chess records his farm work, gardening, the tasks of hired workers, land surveying, the names of people he visits or who visit him, payments he receives or makes—including wages paid to workers and rent from tenants--and various goods he buys. He also records the activities of Amanda and his children, where they have visited or who they have met and their church attendance, as well as a period of intense illness for Amanda and Norman in July. There is a clipping on a Liquor License Transfer Bill being passed in the back, as well as a receipt of payment to Moses. The diary entries end early in December.
