Description
Black and white photograph of the first UPG basketball team 1969/70 taken in front of Lynch Hall. This team was coached by John Hunter and assisted by August Corso. The team consisted of 12 former high school players, primarily from Westmoreland County. The team played at the Greensburg Salem High School. The team played 14 games in their first season. In March 1970, they played in their first tournament, known as the first annual University of Pittsburgh Regional Campus Basketball Tournament. UPG took second place in the tourney, losing to Johnstown in the final game, 92-64.
