Description
The Jennie King Mellon Library was opened in September 1973 and named in memory of Mrs. Richard B. Mellon, class of 1887. JKM Library replaced the James Laughlin Memorial Library which was built in 1931. The new library was built with money from the College's Centennial Fund which began in 1968 and also funded the building of the Edward Danforth Eddy Theatre and the renovations of the Andrew W. Mellon student/faculty center. The Library is 59,000 square feet and fully air conditioned. It includes individual study spaces, conference and seminar rooms, art exhibits, and a room for the College's Special Collections.
