Description
The Mesta Machine Company was located about six miles from Pittsburgh in West Homestead, Pennsylvania. The plant covered more than twenty acres and employed approximately three thousand employees during the first half of the twentieth century. The Mesta Machine Company was one of the leading manufacturers of machine tool and steel mill equipment in the world at one time and sold equipment to iron and steel plants in Canada, Australia, India, England, France, Italy, and Japan. In 1959 Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev visited the plant as part of his American tour.
