Description
Construction of the Finished Goods Warehouse at the H.J. Heinz Company main plant in the North Side section of Pittsburgh. The Administration Building (background) housed the five-story open rotunda and auditorium. The stained-glass windows along the staircase of the Administration Building were all inscribed with Mr. H.J. Heinz’s inspirational mottoes exhorting employees to be prudent, loyal, temperate, earnest, and hardworking. The rotunda contained a series of ten wall murals painted by Edward Trumbull, which depict scenes in countries that produced or distributed Heinz products. The auditorium, built in 1900, was the center of most of the educational and social activities at the company. In the top right background is the Vinegar Processing Building.
