Description
A Food Quantifier used for quality control at the H.J. Heinz Company. Food Quantifiers analyze processed foods to ensure that certain criteria are met. This reduces the amount of guesswork and the product comes within tighter tolerances more consistently, resulting in increased plant efficiency. Food Quantifiers analyze processed foods such as dressings, ketchup, soups, dairy products, and more. The H.J. Heinz Company pioneered quality assurance and procedures. In 1918 the company began to apply the scientific controls to quality in the laboratory and on the factory line. According to Herbert N. Riley, one of the company’s first bacteriologists, Heinz may have been the first United States company to coin the phrase “quality control department.”
