Description
H.J. Heinz II, Chairman of the Board and grandson of the founder of the H.J. Heinz Company shown here about 1961. He was known not only as one of Pittsburgh’s prominent leaders of business, but also as one of its great charitable benefactors. In 1941 H.J. Heinz II took control of the H.J. Heinz Company and in 1946, he took the company public and launched post-war operations in Holland, Venezuela, Japan, and Italy. In 1987, after 56 years of service to the company, he died at the age of 78.
