  • The chemistry lab at the H.J. Heinz Company main plant. The Heinz company was always very committed to producing high quality products, and they often performed scientific experiments to improve the quality of its products. The chemists also attempted to understand the reasons why food spoiled and to determine ways to prevent it. This was especially important after the discovery of bacteria and its potentially harmful effects in 1898.
