Description
The H.J. Heinz Company main plant on Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhood as seen from the Sixteenth Street Bridge. The H.J. Heinz Company originated up the Allegheny River in the town of Sharpsburg, but soon outgrew that space in 1890. Construction of buildings in the new plant complex (pictured here) began and were completed in 1898. The new plant became known as “The House of the 57 Varieties.”
