Description
Widely admired for providing benefits for its employees, the H.J. Heinz Company was regarded as one of the best places in Pittsburgh to work. Among the many employee advantages was a well-equipped “hospital” area (pictured here) to care for employee injury and illness. Other Heinz initiatives included dining rooms for employees, a circulating library, country outings, river cruises, classes in homemaking, and a fitness center with a gymnasium and swimming pool.
