Description
At the Baked Bean Building plump, clean and carefully selected beans are baked in large ovens and carried through conveyors to the canning room. Each sterilized can receives its little piece of white pork, and then, passing along the conveyors, is mechanically filled with firm, whole, freshly baked beans. The tin can then receives a measured quota of red spicy tomato sauce. As the filled tin can passes on its way, the heads are “crimped” on, not soldered, then they are carried to the sterilizing retorts and finally pass the inspectors who make sure that each tin can represents the high standard of perfection which entitles it to bear that decoration of honor-the Heinz label. Notice the Heinz "prize teams" pulling dray wagons in the foreground.
