Description
The towboat “Transporter,” built in 1921 in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, was actually a rebuilding of another boat called “Valiant.” In February 1927 the boat was caught in a windstorm below Paducah, Kentucky, and turned upside down. She was later righted and repaired. On December 12, 1938, at Six Mile Island, "Transporter" was destroyed by fire.
