Description
The “Sailor” steel hull sternwheeler, owned and operated by the Vesta Coal Company, a subsidiary of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, was built by the Marietta Manufacturing Company of Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in 1924. The 850-horsepower towboat was the only boat in the Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation's fleet equipped with five boilers. The Point Bridge is visible in the background.
