Description
The Southminster Presbyterian Church on Washington Road in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania, under construction. Ground was broken for the church, designed by the architectural firm of Pringle and Tufts, in November 1927. The cornerstone was laid on April 29, 1928. The building’s roof was completed in time to hold a service on Thanksgiving Day in 1928, however, with pews not yet installed, the congregation had to stand amid building debris. The first regular service was held two days before Christmas 1928 with the formal dedication on January 6, 1929. The general contractor for this project, which cost approximately $197,000, was Edward A Wehr.
