Description of the photograph reads, “The official party, paced by Major James Hood Miller and L.T. Willison start through the mill yard at South Side. Commander Egeler, promoted from Lt. Commander about three months ago who gave the pin speech at Aliquippa, is in the second rank of men. (Has hands together and wears three stripes on shoulders).” All three of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation Works (Aliquippa, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland) received the Army-Navy “E” (Excellence) awards for their contributions to the war effort.
