Description
One of eight boiler houses, housing 56 boilers at Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation's Aliquippa Works. Boilers were used to produce steam for heating, operation of steam-driven equipment, and generation of electricity (about half of the electric energy required by the Aliquippa Works). Aliquippa, once a thriving mill town of more than 26,000 inhabitants, is located about twenty-five miles northwest of Pittsburgh in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
