Description
Baldwin Township, created in 1844, was formed from parts of Upper and Lower Saint Clair, Jefferson, and Mifflin Townships. The township was named in honor of prominent western Pennsylvania lawyer and Justice of the United States Supreme Court, Henry Baldwin. Whitehall, encompassing 2,043 acres and including approximately 4,250 residents, was incorporated into a borough on April 7, 1947, after Judge Soffel granted a petition by residents.
