Description
The Mesta Machine Company was one of the leading manufacturers of machine tool and steel mill equipment during the first half of the twentieth century. Some of their products included, gas and steam blowing engines for blast furnaces, forging presses, shears, cut and machine-molded gears, and various types of rolls used in rolling mills. Mesta manufactured various types of tooth gears up to 32 feet in diameter and 6 feet wide of air furnace melted cast iron, acid open hearth steel, or alloy steel. In 1959 Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev visited the plant as part of his American tour. In 1983 WHEMCO acquired the assets of Mesta Machine Company.
