Description
The Mesta Machine Company supplied machinery to iron, steel, and power plants all over the world. In addition to its customers in the United States, Mesta also built products for companies in Japan, France, Italy, Canada, Australia, India, and England. Mesta manufactured all of its machinery from raw materials to the finished product at its West Homewood, Pennsylvania, facility. The Mesta Station (center right) was located on the Monongahela side of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The large metal bridge at the center of the photograph from the station and street to one of the entrances of the General Office Building. There were numerous trains that passed through the station every day, and it generally took about twenty minutes to travel the six miles from Pittsburgh to the Mesta Station by train.
