The Mesta Machine Company’s Machine Department housed a total of five aisles. Two other aisles, each 460 feet in length, included one at 60 feet wide and the last one at 20 feet wide. All the aisles accommodated large machine tools such as planers, boring mills, lathes, pit lathes, gear cutters, boring mills, draw-cut shapers, drill presses, and specialized boring machines, all of which were used for processing heavy castings. Specially designed horizontal drilling machines and power reamers for drilling and reaming of flanged shafting, and a centering table for centering and laying off the rough forging were also available in this department.
