Watt School, designed by architects Ingham & Boyd, opened in 1914. The school was renamed Vann Elementary School in honor of Robert Lee Vann, a prominent citizen in the neighborhood. Vann Elementary School offers programs and services that include Head Start, the Role Models Program (Carnegie Mellon University), the Building Common Ground Parenting Program, the SECTEM Program (energy conversation), the Dwelling House Savings Program, and the Read to Succeed Program.
