Description
South High School, currently known as South Vocational Technical High School, was built between 1987 and 1923. In 1897 the Romanesque east building with its slate hip roof and cornice with egg and dart molding was erected. Later in 1923, the larger flat-roofed structure was completed. South High School was built on the site of the former Atterbury and Company “White House” Glass Factory, which was noted for its opaque milk glass. South Vocational Technical High School serves Pittsburgh and Mount Oliver residents and acceptance to the school is based on available space and racial balance.
