Description
Gladstone Junior High School students enjoying a performance by the Gateway To Music String Quartet in the living room at “Fallingwater.” “Fallingwater,” located in Mill Run, Pennsylvania, was designed by noted architect Frank Lloyd Wright for the Pittsburgh department store owner Edgar J. Kaufmann and his family. The structure, constructed of sandstone quarried on the property and assembled by local craftsmen, was the weekend home of the Kaufmann family from 1937 until 1963. In 1963 the house, including its contents and grounds, were presented to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy by Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. “Fallingwater” is the only Frank Lloyd Wright designed building remaining with all its original furnishings, artwork, and setting undisturbed.
