Description
The Clifford B. Connelley Vocational High School opened in a building near the old Central High School in 1930. The school was considered one of the largest and most modern trade schools in the United States at the time. The school offered day and evening classes that included carpentry, plumbing, and automotive repair. The school, designed by architect Edward B. Lee, is located in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of the Hill District, and was known in 2003 as the Connelley Technical Institute and Adult Education Center. In 2003 the school offered GED testing, Vocational Technical and Computer Career Training, Adult Basic Education Programs, the Associated Master Plumbers of Allegheny County Program, English as a Second Language, and the High School Diploma for Adults Program.
