Description
View of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad yards looking west toward the freight house and the Terminal Station, showing cleanup progress after the 1936 St. Patrick's Day flood. The flood occurred over a period of four days after heavy rains, culminating with the crest of the Ohio River at 46 feet. The 1936 flood had far reaching effects, causing some $250 million in damages and an estimated 108 fatalities.
