  • View of the rising waters of the 1936 St. Patrick's Day Flood at the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Terminal Station. This view is taken from the Auto Shed roof and looks to the baggage room of the station. On the ground level, men can be seen attempting to save items from destruction. The flood occurred over a period of four days after heavy rains, culminating with the crest of the Ohio River at 46 feet. The 1936 Flood had far reaching effects, causing some 250 million dollars in damages and an estimated 108 fatalities.
