  • Political cartoon by the artist Cyrus Cotton Hungerford in the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette depicting the three candidates in the primary election to be on the ballot for Republican Party in the 1929 mayoral election: incumbent mayor Charles H. Kline, Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Judge Richard W. Martin, and City Council President James F. Malone. Charles H. Kline won the primary and would go on to win the general election. In 1912 Hungerford began as a newspaper cartoon artist at the Pittsburgh Sun, afterwards he produced daily cartoons at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette from 1927 until his retirement in 1977.
