  • A view of the boat launch at Sandcastle. Sandcastle was constructed in 1988/1989 along the Monongahela River between downtown Pittsburgh and Kennywood on undeveloped property owned by USX, or United States Steel Company. This particular spot was ideal for the waterpark because it was closer to the river than other sites, which allowed for boat docking.
