  • Continuing the trend of major companies locating their research facilities in Monroeville, in 1971 Westinghouse opened its Nuclear Energy Center on a 200-acre tract of land near the Turnpike Interchange. In 2007, the company announced it would move the facilities to a new site in Cranberry Township north of Pittsburgh.
