Description
Men work in the spot welding line on the left. A lot of the warehouse is visible behind these men. Opened at the start of the Great Depression in 1930, the Walters Manufacturing Company, which produced mill and mining supplies, weathered the economic downturn of the 1930s to prosper during the war economy of the 1940s. In 1941 the plant was outfitted to manufacture defense-related products as the country entered World War II. The plant was located on Pennsylvania Avenue below Third Street. Originally from the Len Flowers Collection.
