Description
Oakmont Avenue, now named Allegheny River Boulevard, flooded badly at the southern end during the St. Patrick's Day flood of 1936. This image focuses on two cars, abandoned to the flood waters. The one closer to the photographer only has the wheels partially covered, while the other car is flooded up to the windows. Reed's Apartments are on the left and Oakmonters stand on the right, looking down from the railroad tracks. Over 130 buildings were damaged in Oakmont alone.
