Description
Small groups of people stand near the railroad tracks, just above the level of the flooding, and examine the extent of the damage. Behind these groups, other people can be seen standing on a steep hill just above the level of the flooding. Based on the attire of the individuals pictured, the day was quite cold. The roofs of some flooded buildings are also visible. This photograph was taken from in front of the Edgewater Steel Company's plant looking in the direction of Verona. The wooden streetcar bridge linking Oakmont and Verona is visible at left behind the onlookers. The buildings in the center of the photo are Verona's Pennsylvania Railroad shops. The circular sign with a star in the center is for Carolina Motor Oil. Snow is still visible on the ground and the roofs of buildings. The flood caused damage to over 130 buildings in structures in the Oakmont area alone.
