  • A parade along Wood Street in downtown Pittsburgh celebrating George Washington’s birthday. In the right center of the photograph is the German Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh at 600 Wood Street. This building also housed the German National Bank, and was replaced by the German National Bank Building (the Granite Building) later in 1889. In the left background is the intersection of Wood Street and Liberty Avenue.
