Description
The University of Pittsburgh’s Field House, also known as the Fitzgerald Field House, was is located at the corner of Allequippa and Darragh streets in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood. It was named after Rufus H. Fitzgerald, the Chancellor of Pitt from 1944-1955. The building serves as the home of many of the school’s sports teams, including wrestling, volleyball, gymnastics, and indoor track and field. The facility, which opened in 1951, can currently accommodate 6,800 people. The basketball teams recently moved to nearby Peterson Events Center in 2002.
