Description
A H.J. Heinz Company delivery truck in front of the courtyard at the main plant in Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhood. In 1910 H.J. Heinz Company bought four chain-drive, two-and-a-half ton, hand-cranked Mack Trucks. These wagons were the first gasoline powered wagons bought by the company and their acquisition set the stage for the eventual replacement of all horse-drawn delivery wagons by the 1920s.
