Description
Henry John (Jack) Heinz, II, born in 1909, was the grandson of Henry John Heinz, the founder of H. J. Heinz Company. Jack assumed the presidency of the company in 1941 upon the death of his father. At the time he was 33 and one of the youngest men in the United States to head a major company. After leaving active involvement with the company, Jack Heinz became chairman of the Howard Heinz Endowment, which disbursed more than $300 million in grants to Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania organizations in the arts, social services, health, education, and urban and international affairs. He died in 1987.
