Description
H.J. Heinz II always tried to help the less fortunate, especially when it concerned malnutrition. In the late 1940s he led a national campaign to feed the hungry children of post-war Europe. In the United States he donated about one million packages of baby food and pledged in national ads to donate another package for every package of baby food bought by mothers during one week. Almost five million food packages were distributed throughout the United States during this operation.
