Description
A Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation car ferry and steel barges at a river lock. The car ferry, with a capacity of eight railroad cars, was used to transport products between the Pittsburgh and Aliquippa plants. The “Sailor” towboat, owned and operated by the Vesta Coal Company, a subsidiary of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, is visible in the left background.
