  • Description of the photograph reads, “Mr. Bell and B. F. Jones, 3rd, Secretary, in the Hazelwood Polishing Mill.” The United States Army conducted an extensive tour of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation’s western Pennsylvania facilities in June of 1943. All three of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation Works (Aliquippa, Pittsburgh, and Cleveland) received the Army-Navy "E" (Excellence) awards for their contributions to the war effort.
