Description
Caption on the front of the photograph reads, “Form for Original Central Pump Plant – 1908.” At the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporations’ Aliquippa Works in 1955, water was pumped from the Ohio River at three pumping stations, passing through trash racks, revolving screens and chlorinating equipment. The central pump house, contained seven motor-driven pumps each rated at 15 million gallons per day. This plant supplied water to the north mills and tube mills.
