Description
Caption on the front of the photograph reads, “Old Aliquippa Park – Site of Present Aliquippa Works.” The Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad built an amusement park to “increase the passenger trade of the road.” By 1905 the park had fallen into disrepair. Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation acquired the property along with a substantial amount of farmland that belonged to the McDonald family in 1905 to construct the Aliquippa Works.
