Two paddlewheel tugboats before smoke control and the introduction of the electric diesel. The boat on the left, the "William Larimer Jones," was built for the Vesta Coal Company at the Howard yard in Jeffersonville, Indiana, in the spring of 1930. It was a duplicate of the boat, "Titan," built by the same company. The "Homestead" shown in the photograph on the right was built in 1919 in Pittsburgh for Carnegie Steel Company at the James Rees and Sons Company shops along the Allegheny River.
