Description
East Hills Park, built on 130 acres at the boundary of Pittsburgh, Wilkinsburg and Penn Hills, was developed by ACTION-Housing Inc. for moderate income families. ACTION-Housing Inc. was established in 1957 as a private non-profit civic agency to help meet the increased demand for housing in the Pittsburgh area. The East Hills residential development project included three phases. East Hills Park contained 187 non-subsidized, privately owned townhouses, and 91 subsidized rental units. East Hills II, completed in 1969, contained 326 townhouses and apartments. East Hills III, completed in 1972, contained 140 subsidized units, and was converted in 1975 from a rental project to a cooperative, owned by the residents.
