Description
The Mesta Machine Company had two large rolling turning departments. The Roughing Department was located in a building, 40 feet wide by 140 feet in length, next to the Roll Foundry Department. This department was equipped with ten Mesta roll turning lathes of various types and sizes. The Finishing Department, which handled rolls that were ready to be finished, was located at one end of the main machine shop building. This department had two 240 feet long aisles, one at 60 feet wide, and the other 27 feet wide, and housed 19 Mesta roll turning lathes ranging in sizes from 18 inches to 60 inches. Heavy slotters, horizontal boring mills, drill presses, and a grinding machine were also located here.
