Description
One of Pittsburgh’s first high school buildings, Fifth Avenue High School was opened in 1895 on the site of a municipal market house at Fifth and Miltenberger Streets in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood. In 1926 an annex was completed containing an auditorium, two gymnasiums, and a swimming pool. Fifth Avenue High School was closed in 1976, the property sold to the City of Pittsburgh, and its students were transferred to Brashear High School.
