Description
East Park School, named for the East Park of Allegheny area in which it was located, was built in 1869. The school was also known as the Fourth Ward School House, No. 1. When it was first built it had only two floors, but in 1881, due to an increase in population, another floor was added. The school was closed in 1974 and was subsequently sold to the Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese in April of 1977. Today, residential housing sits on the site.
