Description
Founded in Pittsburgh's Hill District in 1916 to provide Jewish education to immigrant children, the Hebrew Institute moved to Squirrel Hill in 1944. Mr. Chayim Taub is pictured with his class which met in the former living room of the East Building, which was in use from 1944 until 1963. Some of the students have been identified on the original photograph.
