  • Founded in Pittsburgh's Hill District in 1916 to provide Jewish education to immigrant children, the Hebrew Institute moved to Squirrel Hill in 1944. Mrs. Selma Kahn is reading to her four-year-old campers in the playground at the rear of the east building. The building was located on the northwest corner of Forbes and Denniston Avenue in Squirrel Hill.
