Description
Caleb B. discusses working on his family's farm in Marion, South Carolina, and then a sawmill, before moving North to Homestead in 1923. Working in scrap carrying, a very laborious job at a mill in Homestead. Reflections on life if he had stayed in South Carolina opposed to his life after migrating North. Moving around in the Homestead area- initially living in a boarding house, then between houses with his wife and/or daughter. Differences between those who grew up in Homestead and those who migrated there. Joining the Second Baptist Church in 1923, due primarily to the influence of Reverend Morton, and subsequently becoming involved in the church community.
