Description
Frank Buchwald describes the rise of fascism in Italy and Austria, detailing how Mussolini and Hitler's regimes marginalized workers, closed unions and Socialist parties, leading to civil unrest and persecution. He also shares his personal experience as he faced discrimination, lost his livelihood, and attempted to flee Austria with his family. Buchwald comments that the family tried various means, including a false promise to escape to Belgium during Kristallnacht, only to be turned back, experiencing the horrors of the Nazis' anti-Semitic atrocities. Eventually, they managed to escape to France, where they lived for a while before heading to the United States.
